Implementation of loyalty programs
How to implement loyalty systems: The first step is to define the goals, methods and mechanisms of the prospective program. The company may prepare these preliminary assumptions on its own or it may want to consult a specialist well versed in designing loyalty programs.
The basis for most loyalty programs is the system for calculating and granting points in proportion to the purchase. There are many methods and mechanisms of granting points. They may be standard points for particular products, points granted in proportion to the value of the purchase, bonus points (e.g. individual bonuses on the customer’s birthday) and others.
Loyalty programs based on cards – both chip and magnetic – will also require using POS terminals. The purchase of terminals does not involve large expense and they can also be leased from the companies providing loyalty programs. If the company decides on leasing, it has the guarantee that the payment applications and the loyalty program applications will operate without causing any problems.
Furthermore, loyalty cards require the appropriate infrastructure (equipment and system) that ensures quick and smooth operation. Installation of the infrastructure may be time-consuming, which should be taken into account beforehand and when the loyalty program is implemented.
